The US agricultural and construction machinery manufacturer John Deere opened an agricultural machinery test center in Tianjin Thursday to strengthen its research and development in China.

The new machinery test center focuses on product verification and validation. It employs advanced agricultural machinery testing technology with the capability of testing components and complete tractors as well as combine harvesters.

"This is an important milestone in support of John Deere’s growth in China," said Luke Gakstatter. "This initiative will help to provide a broader line of products, using our best technologies, which meet the needs of Chinese customers."

The company earlier this week opened its China parts distribution center in Tianjin.

The John Deere company entered China in the mid-1970s. Although the Chinese market accounts for a relatively small share in the company’s global business, the market is of significant importance and potential, said Gakstatter.

The company's sales revenue in the country has increased by over 300 percent in the past five years.
