China has cracked down on 109 cases of Internet pornography on overseas servers or websites and seized 152 suspects, said the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) Friday.

Among these cases, a total of 51 cases are criminal ones with 83 criminal suspects arrested, the MPS said.

The MPS also released further information on four typical cases.

According to the MPS, police in southern China's Guangdong province has shut down a domestic porn website with more than 960,000 register members.

The operators of the website set up its server abroad and ran business within China.

The operators irregularly released the IP address of the website by online posts in MSN space, and charged membership fees for access of the contents, the MPS said.

After careful investigation, the Guangdong police arrested two suspects of the case on December 30, 2009 with sufficient evidence, and the two suspects had confessed to the fact of having run the porn website for profit, the MPS said.

According to the MPS, the two suspects are detained now by local police.

The other three typical cases were respectively cracked by police in southwest China's Sichuan province, Chongqing Municipality, and east China's Anhui province.
