Outbound investment in 2007 totalled $18.72 billion, up 6.2 percent, the Ministry of Finance said.

The ministry said in a statement that investment via mergers and acquisitions was $6.1 billion in 2007, accounting for 32.6 percent of China's total.

China attracted $82.66 billion in foreign investment in 2007, up 13.8 percent, the commerce ministry said earlier this week.
