China's two decades of sustained economic growth is "a miracle," Hungary's Chinese affairs commissioner Anderas Huszty said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua Wednesday.

"The sustained economic growth proves that China has chosen the right path of development by adopting the opening-up policy," Huszty said, "This path suits China's own characteristics as well as the country's reality."

Huszty said he believes that China's momentum of development could still be maintained in 20 years.

"Though the economic development is still unbalanced in China and the the per capita GDP of the country is very low, the living standards of at least 30 percent of China's population are comparable to that of the European people," Huszty said.

"Europe as a whole has a population of 450 million, while 30 percent of China's population reaches almost 400 million," Huszty said, "We all know what it means. It is a remarkable achievement."

China's rise in the world economic and political stage is unavoidable, Huszty said. However, he believes that China will never constitute a threat to the European Union (EU).

"China is a big country in production from a long-term point of view," Huszty said, "Instead of wrestling with China for the prices of commodities, the EU should compete with the country in areas where the bloc has a clear edge such as high-tech product exports, intellectual property rights exports and tourist services."
