Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei Technologies yesterday said it had won from Vodafone a mobile phone network expansion contract in Spain. Under the deal, Huawei will expand Vodafone's high-speed networks based on the HSPA standard in seven cities in Spain, including Barcelona and Madrid, serving more than 2.5 million subscribers.

Huawei won the first contract from Vodafone Spain in August 2006. With the new network expansion contract, Huawei said it has already become Vodafone Spain's major HSPA mobile network partner.
