Sony Ericsson launches cellphone factory in Beijing

Sony Ericsson launched a new factory in Beijing yesterday, covering 18,500 square meters, to expand its mobile phone manufacturing capacity. Beijing-based BMC, an in-house manufacturing facility of Sony Ericsson, has already shipped more than 100 million handsets globally. Its exports hit 22.14 billion yuan last year, up 18 percent. Sony Ericsson said the new factory will manufacture phones and assemble surface-mounted circuit boards.
