Aviation industry gains US$69m in first quarter

The aviation industry earned 530 million yuan (US$69 million) in profit in the first three months of this year, a 19.5 percent year-on-year increase, showing that the aviation transport business is growing faster this year.

Overseas business has risen quickly as well. The total amount of transport has increased 28.4 percent compared with last year; passengers transport has risen 23.9 percent year-on-year, and air mail transport has increased 25.1 percent compared with the same period in 2006, according to latest statistics released by the General Administration of Civil Aviation.

At the same time, airlines servicing the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao have fallen slightly, especially the airmail business, which has an 11.9 percent year-on-year decrease.
