China Metallurgical Group (MCC) sees overseas expansion as a key part of its
growth strategy.
The State-owned conglomerate recently announced the
establishment of two subsidiaries, MCC International Incorporation Ltd and MCC
Overseas Ltd.
"This step is a part of the group's restructuring strategy
and a milestone in MCC's overseas business development," said Yang Changheng,
chairman of MCC's board of directors.
The two subsidiaries will be
engaged in similar core businesses in overseas markets, such as designing,
engineering, procurement and construction, Yang said.
MCC International
Incorporation Ltd will focus its business on North America, Latin America, the
European Union and Africa, while MCC Overseas Ltd will cover Asia, Australia,
Russia and Turkey.
The new companies will be in charge of seeking
projects, bidding and seeking investments, while the projects will be
constructed by other MCC subsidiaries.
"The two, which are independent
entities with different target markets, are expected to boost the overall scale
and efficiency of MCC's overseas business," Yang said.
MCC, which
previously focused exclusively on construction projects, has recently made
efforts to diversify its operations into fields such as designing, engineering,
procurement and construction (EPC), resource development, mechanical equipment
manufacturing and real estate.
