Putian City of East China's Fujian Province signed for 359 projects worth 4.96 billion yuan (US$619.54 million) at the fourth China (Fujian) Technology and Projects Fair held on June 18, an increase of 65 percent over last year, said Li Feiting, director of the Putian Development and Reform Commission yesterday.

Among the projects, there are 120 related to ten industries, such as electronic information, medical instruments, textiles and energy.

The industries are listed in Putian's 11th Five-Year Program, said Li, adding that 103 projects each had an investment of more than 10 million yuan.

Putian has signed for more than 600 projects with an investment totaling 7 billion yuan in the past three fairs.

"Currently, we have finished constructing 27 projects," said Mayor Zhan Yi. "Production value stood at more than 1 billion yuan in 2005."

The fourth China (Fujian) Technology and Projects Fair, held from June 18 to 20, helps Fujian Province attract more investment from home and abroad.
