The trade volume between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan reached US$12.38
billion in the first two months of this year, with a year-on-year increase of
18.8 percent, according to Taiwan media.
Taiwan has a US$5.66 billion' trade surplus to the mainland in January and
February, a rise of 17.2 percent over last year.
It's export to the mainland stood at US$9.02 billion in the first two months,
a year-on-year growth of 18.3 percent. It accounts for 27.9 percent of its total
export.
Its exported goods are mainly electric machinery and accessories, optical
products, machines, plastic products and organic chemical products.
Meanwhile, Taiwan had imported goods worth US$3.36 billion from the mainland,
up 20.2 percent, accounting for 11 percent of its total import.
Taiwan's major imports included electric machinery and accessories, mining
fuels, toys and sports products.
Statistics of the Ministry of Commerce said the Chinese mainland is Taiwan's
No. 1 export market, while Taiwan is mainland's second largest import
