  Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone was approved as 
state-level deveopment zone in April 1993. The zone now has a developed area of 
14.38 square kilometers. 
 Geographical 
Location
 Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone lies 
in the hinterland of Northeast Plain and on the east of Jing Yue Tan Forest Park 
(the largest artificial forest park in Asia), with Yitong River on the west. 
Changchun, the provincial capital of Jinlin Province, lies in the center of the 
northeastern Asian economic ring surrounding the Japanese Sea. The city is also 
in the middle of the city belt in the heart of Northeast Plain, which is 
composed of over 100 cities and towns with such metropolises as Dalian, 
Shenyang, Changchun and Harbin at the core.
 Communication and TransportationThe Zone is 5 kilometers 
from downtown, 2 kilometers from the freight railway station, 14.8 kilometers 
from Changchun airport and 15 kilometers from Changchun international airport 
currently under construction. It is only 6 hours' ride from Dalian Harbor. 
Jilin-Changchun and Harbin-Dalian expressways run across the zone.
 Human ResourcesChangchun has 25 universities and 
colleges, 102 independent institutions of R&D and technological development, 
23 members of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Academy of Engineering, and 
469,000 different professional technicians. In addition, the Zone owns Changchun 
Senior Vocational Poly-tech Institute, the largest vocational training base in 
the nation.
 Investment PrioritiesThe Zone is devoted to developing 
the 5 leading industries known as automotive parts and components, photoelectric 
information, bio-pharmaceutical, fine processing of foods, and new building 
materials. In particular, hi-tech and high value-added projects account for over 
80 percent of the total.
