Dr. Deng Zhonghan (John) co-founded Vimicro Corporation, the largest multimedia semiconductor technology company in China, in 1999. He currently serves as the Chairman, CEO and President of Vimicro.

Since Dr. Deng returned to China from the Silicon Valley, he has been actively involved in promoting the China semiconductor industry. In recognition of his achievements, Dr. Deng has received numerous awards, most recent of which include National 1st Class Scientific Achievement Award, National Medal for Outstanding Overseas Student Returnees, Top CEOs of China Semiconductor Industry, and National Innovation Award in Information Industry.

Dr. Deng served as an advisor to the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as a visiting professor at Tsinghua University. Prior to founding Vimicro, Dr. Deng was a senior researcher at IBM - T.J. Watson Research Center. Dr. Deng received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, M.S. degree in Economics and M.S. degree in Physics, all from the University of California at Berkeley.
