Former Chinese Arts Academy president under investigation for alleged Party violations

Lian Ji, former president of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, is under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and the law, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission announced on Tuesday.
Lian, 70, a native of Shanxi province, joined the Communist Party of China in 1975. He worked in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region for nearly three decades and was appointed vice chairman of the region's government in 2003. In September 2011, he became a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee and head of its publicity department. He was appointed president of the academy in February 2016 and retired in 2018.
