Top hosts to be awarded in Changsha

The 3rd Jinsheng (Golden Voice) Awards were unveiled in Beijing on Tuesday, with the award ceremony scheduled to be held in Changsha, Hunan province, on Dec 23.

A total of 20 veteran hosts from the Beijing-headquartered China Media Group and 16 provincial-level broadcasters received the awards. The most well-known winners include ethnic Uygur host Neghmet Abdulrakhman, renowned for hosting CMG's most popular annual show — the Spring Festival Gala — for over 10 years, and female host Chen Chen from the Shanghai Media Group.

According to the organizers, the winners were born between the 1960s and 1990s and have an average of 21 years of professional experience. The programs they host cover a wide range, from news broadcasting and commentary to talk shows and variety programs.

Alongside the award ceremony, a series of events will also be held in Changsha, including an industry-themed salon and a host talent training program.

Launched in 2021, the awards are organized by the National Radio and Television Administration, the country's top sector regulator, and hosted by the TV Art Committee of China. It is the country's first national-level government award in the field of broadcasting and hosting.

The selection process started in March and went through multiple rounds to create a short list, ultimately choosing 10 hosts from the field of radio and another 10 from television, according to Yi Kai, secretary-general of the TV Art Committee of China.
