Intertwined world

The relationships among art, science and human society are like the paths in a garden that entwine to form a complicated network, the ground on which human culture evolves and thrives. This is the core idea of The Garden of Forking Paths, an exhibition now underway at the Tsinghua University Art Museum. Running until Jan 4, it is a highlight of the newly opened program, 2025 Tsinghua University Art Museum Art and Technology Week, an initiative exploring the deeper integration of art and science in human life, especially in an era of rapid advancement of artificial intelligence. Exhibitions, lectures and workshops will be held on emerging ways of learning and the coexistence and co-creation between humans and digital life.

9 am-5 pm, closed on Mondays. Tsinghua University, Haidian district, Beijing. 010-6278-1012.

Open dialogues

Encrucijadas (crossroads), an ongoing exhibition at Today Art Museum in Beijing, and a collaboration between the museum and the Instituto Cervantes, opens an exchange between female artists and collectors in China and Spain. On show are paintings, sculptures, installations and images to reflect the individual perceptions and states of being in a rapidly changing world. The diversity of mediums and approaches reveals how artists move beyond the confines of gender to address emotion, identity, memory and other shared human concerns. The exhibition, running until Feb 1, also highlights the influence and growing visibility of female collectors in the field.

10 am-6 pm, closed on Mondays. 32 Baiziwan Road, Chaoyang district, Beijing. 010-5876-0600.

Layers of color

Dai Ying's paintings reveal the strength of her lifelong grounding in classical Chinese painting, which she began studying as a child. Years of training have given her solid technique and a command over color, while her experiences at home and abroad also motivate her to experiment with paper and silk, two major mediums of classical Chinese painting. Her ongoing exhibition at the National Art Museum of China, titled Endless Life, shows her efforts to introduce unconventional materials into ink art. She blends oil paints and acrylics with mineral pigments to build dense layers of color, amplifying the expressive power of the work. Also on show is Mother, an installation made of pink strips of traditional xuan paper, ceramics, cloth, and stainless steel resembling a woman's womb and symbolizing the cycle of life. The exhibition runs until Dec 5.

9 am-5 pm, closed on Mondays. 1 Wusi Dajie, Dongcheng district, Beijing. 010-6400-1476.
