China's courier sector posts record-breaking growth during 'Double 11' shopping festival
China's courier sector achieved unprecedented growth during this year's "Double 11" shopping festival, with daily parcel handling peaking at 777 million, according to data released by the State Post Bureau of China.
From Oct 21 to Nov 11, postal and courier companies across the country handled a staggering 13.94 billion parcels, averaging 634 million per day — 117.8 percent higher than the usual daily volume. The record-breaking single-day peak of 777 million parcels underscored the industry's enhanced capacity to meet surging demand during major shopping events.
The bureau attributed the surge to robust online consumption, driven by extensive promotional campaigns from e-commerce platforms. The sustained expansion of the express delivery market highlights its pivotal role in supporting consumption upgrades and boosting the real economy, the bureau said.
The record figures reflect both the resilience of China's consumer market and the efficiency of its logistics network, which continues to facilitate the smooth circulation of goods and drive economic growth.
