"Establishing a commemoration at this moment is both a tribute to the achievements of the past and a reaffirmation that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China," said Justin Lin Yifu, former chief economist of the World Bank and dean of the Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University, during a grand gathering marking the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration to China.
