President Xi Jinping said China is ready to continue firm mutual support, enhance strategic coordination, and expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Mozambique to deepen their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, when meeting with Mozambican Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Delfina Levi in Beijing on Tuesday.

Xi said the traditional friendship between China and Mozambique has been as solid as a rock since the two countries established diplomatic relations 50 years ago.

He emphasized that China supports Mozambique in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions.

Xi called for the two sides to deepen practical cooperation, explore new models for the integrated and coordinated development of energy and mineral resources as well as infrastructure construction.

China stands ready to work with Mozambique to implement the Global Governance Initiative, oppose unilateralism and hegemonism, and safeguard the common interests of both countries and the Global South, he added.

Levi reaffirmed Mozambique's firm adherence to the one-China principle, and said her country is willing to enhance cooperation with China in areas such as energy, mining, science and technology and education.

Mozambique is ready to strengthen multilateral cooperation with China to help promote a fairer and more equitable global governance system, she added.
