This summer, streets in Shashi district of Jingzhou, Hubei province, have been transformed into a dynamic open-air art gallery, where the city's old, weathered walls now burst with color and creativity.

At the Xintiandi parking lot, the bold black characters for Shashi leap off a yellow declaration wall like a cry breaking the silence.
