Chinese and Russian navies will hold joint maritime exercise near Vladivostok in August and then joint patrol in the Pacific Ocean, a spokesman for China’s Ministry of National Defense said on Wednesday.

Zhang Xiaogang, the spokesman, said the China-Russia military actions are part of the annual cooperation plan between the two militaries, and are not directed against any third party.

The actions are unrelated to the current international and regional situation, he added.

The Joint Sea-2025 exercises will be conducted in the sea and airspace near the Russian city of Vladivostok in August, Zhang said.

“After the joint exercises, some of the participating forces from both sides will proceed to the relevant areas of the Pacific Ocean to hold the sixth joint maritime patrol,” he said.
