Lee, Ishiba agree to strengthen relations
South Korean President Lee Jaemyung and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba agreed during a phone call to strengthen bilateral ties, both sides said on Monday. Lee, who was elected last week, has said that pragmatism is key to his diplomacy and that he would continue with security cooperation among South Korea, Japan and the United States. Lee told Ishiba that he wanted to deal with geopolitical crises within the framework of three-way cooperation with Tokyo and Washington, Kang Yoo-jung, Lee's spokesman, told reporters. Ishiba told Lee that he wished to further advance bilateral relations "through mutual efforts based on the foundation built by both governments so far", according to a statement from Japan's Foreign Ministry.

2 killed in shooting on Las Vegas strip
Police are investigating the gunshot deaths of two people on the Las Vegas strip, not far from the landmark fountain at the Bellagio Resort & Casino. The two people were found on Sunday night with apparent gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk along South Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Police described the shooting as "an isolated incident". Investigators believe they have identified the suspect and are working to find and apprehend that person, Undersheriff Andrew Walsh told reporters in a briefing. Investigators believe the suspect and victims had been feuding on social media, police said.
