Senior CPPCC official under investigation for suspected violations

Bi Jingquan, a senior official with China's top political advisory body, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, the country's top anti-corruption agencies said Thursday.
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Commission of Supervision disclosed the investigation online but released no further details.
Bi, 69, is a native of Heilongjiang province. He joined the Communist Party in March 1978 and began his career in February 1982 after earning a university degree in economics.
Over the years, he held various posts in the former price bureau, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Since August 2020, Bi has worked with the Committee on Economic Affairs under the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Later that year, he also took on key roles at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges.
