Marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, a series of concerts will be staged from June to September in more than 20 cities across China.

The event will open with two concerts at Hengshui Poly Grand Theatre, in Hebei province on June 25 and 26.

More concerts will be staged at venues, including the Forbidden Concert Hall in Beijing, Changzhou Grand Theatre in Jiangsu province, and Xinzhou Grand Theatre in Shanxi province.

The concerts will be performed by the choir of China Broadcasting Performing Arts Troupe under the baton of conductor Zheng Jian, featuring music works from home and abroad.

"For young people, it is a window to understand and remember history through music," says Zheng, noting that the choir has re-arranged famous anti-fascist anthems from various countries, such as The Sacred War, one of the most famous Soviet songs of World War II, The March of the Big Knife and Defending the Yellow River, which kept up the spirits of the people across the country during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
