Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra holds concert with original pieces

On May 22, Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra held a concert featuring two original compositions: Colorful Zhejiang and The Blooming Path, under the baton of conductor and artistic director Zhang Yi.
Commissioned by the orchestra and by composers including Zhou Xianglin, Weng Chigeng, Guo Ming, and Wen Ziyang, Colorful Zhejiang consists of 11 movements, each with its own rich musical colors and distinct artistic styles.
The piece vividly captures the scenic beauty, cultural heritage, and dynamic development of the 11 iconic regions of Zhejiang province through music.
Since its premiere in June 2024, the work has been staged with more than 30 performances across the country.
Following the performance of Colorful Zhejiang, the orchestra held a premiere of another original symphonic sound painting, The Blooming Path.
This work was co-composed by esteemed composer Du Mingxin and his son, Du Yong. The piece focuses on the rich, ancient, and magnificent culture of the Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road. Through symphonic sound, it traces the origins, continuation, inheritance, and development of Silk Road culture from ancient times to the present, while also incorporating elements of Zhejiang.
