'Silver-haired express' departs for Xinjiang adventure


The themed tourist train Y64, named Longtai, departed from Harbin, Heilongjiang province, on Wednesday, carrying 680 senior tourists for the Altay region of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
The train, dubbed the "silver-haired express", hosted a group of senior travelers aged 64 on average. It was scheduled for a 19-day journey, featuring visits to notable attractions such as Tianshan Tianchi (Heavenly Lake), Kanas, Turpan, Sailimu Lake, and Kashgar Ancient City, according to China Railway Harbin Group.
Since beginning operations in 2017, Longtai has transported over 30,000 tourists with 37 trains as part of Heilongjiang's aid-Xinjiang project.
Harbin East Station opened a green channel and exclusive waiting area for the seniors to ensure a smooth and safe trip.
To enhance the passenger experience, Harbin Railway Culture and Tourism Group has organized various activities, including revolutionary song recitals and chess competitions.
Doctors are also on the train to provide healthcare services.
