A campaign against online piracy has been launched across China, in a bid to strongly protect copyrights, especially those related to short dramas, short videos, according to the National Copyright Administration.

This year's campaign, which was jointly developed by the National Copyright Administration, the Ministry of Public Security, the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, will end in November.

While cracking down on infringement acts such as illegal transfer, dissemination and sale of audiovisual works, the campaign will also focus more on strengthening the copyright protection of works and derivative products involving animation and games, as well as computer software, the NCA said.

In addition, efforts will be intensified in maintaining the order of e-commerce, livestreaming and short-video platforms, it added.

It revealed that all the targets in the campaign have been major complaints among the public, pledging to work with the authorities to tighten the supervision in cyberspace and serve the high-quality development through copyright protection.

Since 2005, the National Copyright Administration and other relevant departments have launched annual special campaigns targeting the difficult and hot issues of online piracy. These operations have effectively deterred piracy and created a favorable environment for the online copyright order.
