The paper-cutting works of ten female artists from China and various cultural backgrounds are on display at Somerset House in London on March 10.

Co-organized by the Chinese Students and Scholars Associations of King's College London and the Royal College of Art, along with the Shaanxi Province Art Museum, the exhibition Blooming on Paper presents a unique dialogue between traditional culture and contemporary paper-cutting art.

Wang Yun, cultural counselor at the Chinese Embassy in the UK, emphasized the deep cultural heritage embodied by paper-cutting art, calling it a remarkable representation of Chinese culture.

The exhibition is divided into two sections. One showcases the works of renowned Shaanxi paper-cutting master Ku Shulan, provided by the Shaanxi Province Art Museum. The other highlights creations by nine artists from different cultural traditions, illustrating the evolution of paper-cutting as an artistic medium.

This marks the first time that Ku Shulan's works have been exhibited in the United Kingdom. She was the first person to be awarded as "Outstanding Folk Art Master" by UNESCO on the Chinese mainland.
