In the past 30 years, there has been a significant rise in women's educational attainment. With more women earning bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, they have gained greater control in the job market and in their life choices, said Meng Man, a history professor at Minzu University of China in Beijing.

In the lead-up to International Women's Day on Saturday, Meng, who is also a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said during the ongoing two sessions that in the age of AI, women will make tremendous contributions.

"Women embody significant emotional values for humanity. Love is a strength inherent in the nature of women, expressed through relationships such as those between parents and children, and between spouses," Meng said.

"Therefore, I believe that women are the guardians of the last bastion of humanity — the emotional force and moral attributes that define us as human. These, I think, are what we can offer as women to this rapidly advancing era."
