Shanghai CPPCC hears views of local members
The annual session of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, or CPPCC, the city's political advisory body, completed its agenda and concluded on Friday.
Presiding over the closing meeting, Hu Wenrong, chairman of the CPPCC Shanghai committee, said that the meeting was an important one held at an important moment, as Shanghai further deepens reform and plays a leading demonstration role in promoting Chinese-style modernization.
"The CPPCC members conducted in-depth consultations, discussed important topics for the city's development, and built consensus," he said. "This meet also fully demonstrated the unique advantages and vitality of whole-process people's democracy. It gathered positive energy and boosted morale of the society."
A total of 1,102 proposals were received from CPPCC members during this year's session. They covered the city's economic, political, cultural, social, ecological and other aspects.
