Milestone reported for construction project

Progress is being made on the construction of the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway, with the State builder recently completing the box girder installation of an overpass above Xuancheng-Hangzhou Railway. The installation, completed by China Railway Construction Corp's 24th bureau in Xuancheng, Anhui province, marks a milestone in the expressway's building as it is labeled as a benchmark project for the whole construction progress, providing "valuable reference for following phases, especially in terms of the coordinating work with the neighboring transport routes," Sun Jian, project manager of the State builder, said. The expressway is a key conduit facilitating road trips between inland Chongqing and Shanghai, with a trip duration of 17 hours.

Yuan strengthens against greenback

The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 17 pips to 7.1877 against the US dollar on Friday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day. The central parity rate of the yuan against the US dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
