Construction machinery industry expo breaks records in Shanghai

The bauma CHINA 2024, running from Tuesday to Friday at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, has broken all records including the total exhibition area and number of exhibitors since its inception in 2002.
According to Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe Muenchen, a total of 3,542 exhibitors from 32 countries and regions are participating in the 2024 edition. The total exhibition area has reached 330,000 square meters, which is the maximum exhibition space, indoor and outdoor, at the SNIEC.

This year, more than 200,000 visitors from more than 160 countries and regions are expected to participate in the four-day expo. More than 2,800 new product launches are taking place during the trade fair. As of the opening on Tuesday, nearly 700 companies were still waiting for booths, according to Rummel.
The bauma CHINA 2024, marking its return after a four-year break, is placing emphasis on smart, digital, electric, new energy and sustainable solutions. To better showcase new industry trends, Messe Muenchen has introduced two new themed areas, focusing on intelligent management and new energy technologies, said Rummel.
"These areas bring together exhibitors to showcase products and solutions related to industrial automation, sensors, software, augmented reality and virtual reality technology, communication and navigation systems, as well as advancements in electrification, hybrid power, fuel cells and new energy powertrains," said Rummel.
This year, leading domestic brands such as Xcmg, Sany, Zoomlion, Sdlg, Lonking and Shantui, along with internationally renowned brands including Caterpillar, Wirtgen Group, Manitou, Bomag, Ammann and Skyjack are showcasing their latest products covering fields such as smart, green, low-carbon and electrification.
A slew of supportive programs, participated in by government representatives, business leaders and scholars, are ongoing which allow participants to learn new trends and business opportunities and promote industry collaboration.
"The 2024 event brings together international giants and domestic industry leaders, providing a platform for professional audiences and buyers from both domestic and international markets to explore new products, engage in face-to-face discussions and deepen cooperation," said Rummel. "It facilitates Chinese companies expanding internationally and international companies' access to the Chinese market. We are proud to be able to once again provide this excellent exchange platform for the whole industry."
Inaugurated in 2002 in Shanghai, the bauma CHINA is deemed to be one of the most influential trade expos in the machinery sector in China and the Asia-Pacific region, as well as an industry barometer. Rummel said that the success of bauma CHINA lies in its close relationship with businesses and associations.
"We travel frequently to our customers, we talk to them and try to understand what is driving them," said Rummel. "The long-term and stable partnership with Chinese partners is the key to the success of bauma CHINA. In the coming decade, we will continue to develop and innovate in partnership with our Chinese partners."
Rummel also noted that the success of the bauma CHINA not only demonstrates Messe Muenchen's innovation and quality guarantee as a leading global organizer, but signifies the success of the close cooperation between China and Germany over the past two decades.
Looking ahead, Messe Muenchen, which has engaged in the exhibition industry in China for more than 25 years, will enhance the quality of bauma CHINA to support businesses' sustainable development and expansion in China and across the world, according to Rummel. It will pay attention to future trends such as autonomous driving and electrification.
