Singapore, Luxembourg leaders to pay visit
Two high-level politicians from Singapore and Luxembourg will soon visit China simultaneously. Both Lee Hsien Loong, senior minister of Singapore, and Xavier Bettel, deputy prime minister and minister for foreign affairs and foreign trade of Luxembourg, will pay a six-day visit starting on Sunday. Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said China hopes to work with Luxembourg to enhance mutual trust and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, noting that collaboration between the two countries has benefited their peoples, promoted China-EU cooperation and contributed to the stability of the international supply chain.

Kim demands military equipment upgrade
Kim Jong-un, the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, called for upgrading military equipment and developing ultra-modern weapons as a weaponry exhibition kicked off in Pyongyang on Thursday to demonstrate the country's military capabilities, the official Korean Central News Agency reported on Friday. The report said Kim lauded the DPRK's success in developing national defense as convincing evidence that the country has "the firm capability and security guarantee" to cope with various existential and potential security threats in the future.

Trump nominates new attorney general
US President-elect Donald Trump said Thursday he will nominate former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the Justice Department, turning to a longtime ally after his first choice, Matt Gaetz, withdrew his name from consideration amid scrutiny over sex trafficking allegations. Bondi was among a group of Republicans who showed up to support Trump at his New York hush money criminal trial, which ended in May with a conviction on 34 felony counts.
