Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province launched its celebratory events for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with a grand music concert on Sept 26.

The concert started amid sound of the solemn national anthem — March of the Volunteers. The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra opened the evening with symphonic artworks such as the Ode to the Red Flag, Wuxi Overture, and Vltava.

Conducted by renowned Chinese conductor Lin Daye, the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra presented audiences an auditory feast of Eastern and Western classics, such as excerpts from the opera Carmen, the violin concerto The Butterfly Lovers and the rousing rendition of I Love You, China.

The performance featured acclaimed artists such as French pianist Michel Dalberto, Chinese violinist Huang Mengla, and Chinese vocalists Li Xiuying, Xue Haoyin, Cai Jingwen and Zhou Zhengzhong, whose brilliant performance won a lengthy applause from the audience.
