New high-speed railway to open in Guangdong

A high-speed rail line linking Meizhou with Longchuan county in eastern Guangdong province will begin operating on Saturday. Tickets will be sold on Thursday, China Railway Guangzhou Group announced.
The railway, a section of a 290-kilometer line between Longchuan and Longyan, Fujian province, will cut travel time from Meizhou West Station to Longchuan West Station to as little as 29 minutes.
The nearly 94-km Meizhou-Longchuan line is designed for a running speed of 350 kilometers per hour, helping reduce travel time from Meizhou to cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to less than two hours.
The line adds to the high-speed passenger transport network connecting the eastern part of Guangdong with central and northern China.
