FM to attend BRICS meeting in Russia
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend the 14th Meeting of BRICS High-Ranking Officials responsible for security matters in St. Petersburg, Russia, from Wednesday to Thursday. During the meeting, China will exchange views with BRICS partners on the current international security situation and major international and regional issues, and make political preparations for the 16th BRICS Summit, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Monday. China looks forward to working with its BRICS partners to consolidate the BRICS strategic partnership, inject new impetus to "greater BRICS cooperation" and actively contribute to maintaining world peace and security, she added.

President Tebboune reelected for 2nd term
Preliminary results showed on Sunday that Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has been reelected for a second term, the country's election authority said. Mohamed Charfi, head of the Independent Elections Authority, said in a news briefing in the capital Algiers that Tebboune received 5,329,253 votes, or 94.65 percent of the total. The election was held on Saturday, with more than 23 million citizens eligible to vote. Tebboune, 78, first took office in 2019 following a political crisis and the resignation of late president Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
