Parliament appoints 9 new cabinet members
The Ukrainian parliament approved the appointment of nine new cabinet members on Thursday, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported. Andrii Sybiha was named the country's new foreign minister, while the former deputy head of the President's Office Oleksii Kuleba became the deputy prime minister for the restoration of Ukraine and the minister for the development of communities and territories. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the cabinet reshuffle is aimed at "strengthening Ukraine at different stages".

World records hottest summer: EU monitor
The world is emerging from its warmest northern hemisphere summer since records began, the European Union's climate change monitoring service said on Friday, as global warming continues to intensify. The boreal summer of June to August this year blew past last summer to become the world's warmest, the Copernicus Climate Change Service said in a monthly bulletin. The exceptional heat increases the likelihood that 2024 will outrank 2023 as the planet's warmest on record.
VENEZUELA
Arrest warrant against Gonzalez ratified
Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab on Thursday ratified an arrest warrant against former opposition presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, for a string of alleged crimes committed following the July 28 presidential elections. "The arrest warrant is in effect ... it must be enforced within the framework of the Constitution and the law," Saab told reporters, noting the ex-candidate has failed to heed the summons.
