Xi's article on education to be published by Qiushi Journal
BEIJING -- An article on education by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, will be published on Sunday in this year's 17th issue of the Qiushi Journal.
Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, stresses nurturing a new generation of capable young people with sound moral grounding, intellectual ability, physical vigor, aesthetic sensibility, and work skills who will fully develop socialism and carry forward the socialist cause.
Noting that China is a socialist country under the leadership of the CPC, the article says that this mandates a fundamental task for education: to prepare youth for joining and advancing the socialist cause.
The key, according to the article, lies in firming up ideals and convictions, strengthening patriotism and moral character, increasing knowledge, and cultivating work ethics and overall competence.
It is important to build an education system that supports students' well-rounded development in terms of moral grounding, intellectual and physical ability, aesthetic sensibility and work skills, and to foster a higher-level talent cultivation system, it adds.
Teaching materials play a crucial role in disseminating knowledge. The article highlights the importance of using Marxism as a guide for their development, and embodying the requirements of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context.
