Joint flood control drill ups emergency response capabilities

As the summer flood season approaches, the 2024 joint government-business flood control emergency drill was held in the Laiwu district of Jinan, Shandong province, aiming to test the emergency response capabilities of various professional teams.
This drill adopted a "live exercise" format, simulating two consecutive days of heavy rainfall in the Laiwu area. Under unified command, emergency teams swiftly conducted rescue operations, evacuated personnel, and coordinated the distribution of supplies.
During the exercise, all emergency teams cooperated efficiently, demonstrating rapid response and effective handling of the situation. The State Grid Laiwu Power Supply Co focused on two critical scenarios: emergency handling of substation flooding and the collapse of transmission towers. Power repair personnel innovatively used "electric lifting devices" to tighten tower bolts and connect wires, assembling the emergency repair tower in just 20 minutes.
"This drill has further strengthened the joint emergency response mechanism between the government and enterprises for flood control and disaster relief," said He Chengwei, deputy director of the emergency management bureau of Laiwu District.
"It comprehensively tested the emergency handling capabilities and equipment levels of all flood control teams. Moving forward, we will continue to refine the government-business collaboration mechanism, leverage resources from all sides, and respond promptly to flood situations, ensuring a stable summer flood season," He said.
