Gansu holds commemoration ceremony in honor of Fuxi

The 2024 commemoration ceremony for Fuxi, a legendary ancestor of the Chinese nation, was held on Friday in Tianshui, Northwest China's Gansu province.
A joint ceremony was held at the same time in New Taipei City in Taiwan, signifying both sides commemorating the legendary figure simultaneously. Fuxi is regarded as the cultural ancestor of the Chinese nation.
The ceremony in Gansu was marked by 34 resounding drum beats, symbolizing the reverence of Chinese people from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, and Taiwan, towards Fuxi. Additionally, nine tolls of the bell represented the highest traditional rites of the Chinese nation.
"I felt excited since the day I was invited to attend the ceremony, eagerly anticipating this moment," said Ouyang Kun, from Taiwan. In preparation for the ceremony, he and other participants from Taiwan created calligraphy and painting works rich in Fuxi cultural elements and specially tailored traditional Chinese attire for the occasion.
