Publicity executive under investigation
Zhang Jianchun, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has been placed under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation on suspicion of seriously violating Party disciplines and laws, the country's top anti-graft watchdogs announced on Friday. The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision revealed the investigation in a statement. Zhang, 59, a native of Shandong province, once served as deputy head of the Organization Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and deputy head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. He became deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee in 2020.
CPC expels ex-chief of geological survey
Zhong Ziran, former director of the China Geological Survey, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China for allegedly seriously violating disciplines and laws, as announced by the country's top anti-graft watchdogs on Friday. He is suspected of serious violations of duty, bribery and intentional disclosure of state secrets. Zhong allegedly took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others in enterprise operations, project contracting, mining rights approval. In return, he received large sums of money. He is also suspected of trading favors for sex. Zhong, 61, served in geological and mineral-related departments for many years. In July 2014, he became the director and Party secretary of the China Geological Survey, holding the position until September 2022. He was placed under investigation in January this year.
