French far-right National Rally well ahead in EU elections

PARIS -- French far-right National Rally party received 32 percent of the votes in the 2024 European Parliament elections in France, making sizable gains compared to previous elections, according to a live broadcast of local media BFMTV on Sunday.

French President Emmanuel Macron's liberal Renaissance party garnered only 15.4 percent of the votes, followed by the joint list of Place Publique and the Socialist Party with 13.9 percent.

Left-wing La France Insoumise gained 9.3 percent, while liberal conservative the Republicans received 6.8 percent, followed by nationalist Reconquête with 5.2 percent, the Ecologists with 5 percent, French Communist Party with 2.5 percent and others.
