Xu Ying, deputy head of China's State Tobacco Monopoly Administration which is also known as China Tobacco, is being investigated for suspected severe violations of disciplines and laws, the country's top anti-corruption authorities said on Saturday.

The probe has been disclosed by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision on their website.

Public information shows that Xu, 59, started his career in the administration in 1988. Since then, he has worked for the nation's tobacco system for decades.

In March 2014, he became the deputy head of the administration.
