Miao people celebrate Huashan Festival in Chongqing

The 13th China Wujiang Miao Huashan Festival, a significant traditional celebration for the Miao ethnic minority, commenced in Chiyou Jiuli Town, a 4A historical scenic spot in Pengshui Miao and Tujia autonomous county of Chongqing, on May 15, 2024.

More than ten thousand Miao people adorned in traditional attire gathered to sing and dance in honor of the Huashan Festival. The event provided an immersive experience showcasing the unique cultural characteristics of the Miao ethnic minority while also reflecting their hardworking nature, intelligence and rich history that has shaped their vibrant culture over time.

With the largest Miao population in China, Pengshui, the host place of the festival, is referred to as the "Miao township" of Chongqing, China, and is even globally recognized as such, taking great pride in its rich heritage and vibrant national customs of the Miao.
