In February 1979, Kelly Van Dries presented visiting Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping with a gift - a 10-gallon Texas cowboy hat. Recently, she and her sister were interviewed by China Daily on their Texas ranch, who recalled the historic moment, reflected on the current relationship between the two countries, and said they long for a return to normalcy in the US-China friendship.
