At a meeting of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) held in Paris on March 27, Xingyi Geopark in Southwest China's Guizhou province was listed as a new UNESCO Global Geopark, along with five other Chinese geoparks.

This is the second geopark in Guizhou to successfully obtain this renowned title, following the Zhijin Cave.

Global Geoparks, along with World Heritage Sites and World Biosphere Reserves, are top titles recognized by UNESCO. Currently, the total number of UNESCO Global Geoparks has reached 213, spanning across 48 countries. China has 47 such parks.

Located in Xingyi city, Xingyi Geopark covers an area of 1,456 square kilometers. Its main geological attractions include Xingyi fauna fossils, Wanfenglin cone-shaped peaks, the Maling River fissure canyon, and Nidang stone forest.
