Prof. Shahbaz Khan
Representative of UNESCO Mutisectoral Regional Office for East Asia

The UNESCO commends Chinese public interest prosecutors for their persistent efforts in areas such as cultural heritage preservation, biodiversity protection, promoting oceanic sustainability, and safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of people with disabilities and children.

James Thornton
Founder and President of environmental law organization ClientEarth

The upcoming enactment of the law on procuratorial public interest litigation will empower Chinese prosecutors, allowing them to better implement China's unique procuratorial public interest litigation system.

Terry Townshend
Beijing-based wildlife conservationist and fellow of the Paulson Institute

I was deeply impressed by the commitment of prosecutors to play their full role in advancing wetland protection, and heard many examples of public interest litigation brought by local prosecutors to protect coastal wetlands. This is hugely encouraging and sets a great example for other countries, not only in East Asia but also the world at large.
