The white deer is a very auspicious animal in Chinese culture. Legend has it that it can live up to 1,000 years, but only when it reaches the age of 500 can it turn entirely white. Furthermore, the pronunciation of bailu (white deer) is very similar to another Chinese term, bailu, which means hundreds of blessings.

Let's revisit the Bailu lantern set at Yuyuan Lantern Festival in Paris, France, as part of the 60th-anniversary celebrations of diplomatic relations between France and China.
