31 killed, 10 hurt as bus veers off bridge

Thirty-one people were killed and 10 others were injured when a bus traveling toward Burkina Faso fell off a bridge in southeastern Mali, the Malian Ministry of Transport said Tuesday. The accident occurred around 5 pm local time on the bridge across the Bagoe River, the ministry said in a statement. The bus was traveling from the southwestern Malian town of Kenieba and the probable cause of the accident was the driver losing control of the vehicle, the statement added.

King in hospital during holiday in Malaysia

Norwegian King Harald V has been hospitalized in Malaysia due to an infection, the Royal House of Norway said in a statement on Tuesday. "The King has fallen ill during his holiday in Malaysia and is hospitalized there with an infection. The King receives good follow-up from both Malaysian and Norwegian medical personnel," the statement said. Harald V, 87, is on a private trip to Malaysia. He acceded to the throne in 1991.
