Investigation underway after collapse at demolition site
Police in Dalian, Liaoning province, have taken criminal coercive measures against 16 people involved in a collapse accident at a demolition site, according to a statement released by the Office of the Dalian Safety Production Committee on Tuesday.
On Thursday, the office received a report that a collapse accident occurred on Feb 20 and the local government immediately set up a working team to launch investigations, the statement said.
According to the investigation results, the accident occurred at 5 pm on Feb 20 during the demolition of the Dalian International Convention and Exhibition Center, resulting in the death of four people.
Currently, the investigation team is collecting evidence and will hold accountable the responsible units and individuals in accordance with the law and regulations based on the investigation of the accident.
The city has launched a city-wide special inspection and rectification action for safety hazards in major construction projects and key engineering projects, the statement said.
