A diver at an ocean park in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, drowned while performing cleanings in a water pool during the Spring Festival holiday, a statement issued by the park said on Thursday.

The diver, connecting to pipelines on his body, fell to the bottom of the penguin pool inside the park on Feb 12, according to images posted online by netizens.

The diver remained underwater for over ten minutes before being rescued by staff workers and receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The diver was later transported to the hospital for further treatment, according to media reports.

Zhengzhou Haichang Ocean Park, the first of its kind in Central China, said in the statement that it had conducted an investigation of the accident and the aftermath had been properly handled by the family of the diver.
